Get Well Soon Prayers
Some of us have prayed for our own healing or healing for someone we know for years and years. And so, it can be hard to know what to say when we pray.
Because we feel like we’ve said it all. And haven’t gotten a response.
(Well, at least not the response we were hoping for.)
In those times, when we feel like we can’t come up with the right words to say, it can be helpful to read through prayers written by others.
Reading through them can help us to continue to pray when we don’t know what to say.
So, make these prayers your own.
Change the words to match the situation you’re facing. But don’t stop when you get to the word “amen”.
Instead, use these prayers as a kind of launching pad for your prayer time with God. And keep going.
For it is only in Him that we find real comfort and everlasting healing.
“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”-Psalm 73:26 NIV

May they remember how dearly they’re loved by you. And may that help them to be of good cheer.

A Brutally Honest Prayer for Healing During a Difficult Time
I need Your healing hands to be upon me during this tough time in my life. It feels like everything is out of control. And I just don’t know what to do.
I want to get well soon. But instead, my body keeps failing me.
Every day I feel like I’m facing a new symptom. And the doctors seem just as confused as I am.
It’s quite frustrating. And sometimes I feel like You have abandoned me.
I don’t know why You’ve allowed this. I don’t understand why You haven’t fixed it. And I can’t comprehend how something like this could be a part of Your plan for me.
And yet I also know You are good.
I know You love me. I know You are with me. And so, I have to believe that You are simply working in ways I have yet to see.
It isn’t easy. But I choose to trust You.
To accept Your will for me. To place my hope in You. And to cling to Your promise that You are working all things out for my good.
Even things like this.
Be my strength, Lord, for I am feeling so very helpless and weak. Draw near to me and hold my broken heart. And help me to remember I am safe in Your arms.
You haven’t calmed this storm. You’ve allowed it to rage. But I know You can calm my anxious heart. And You will carry me through it all.
And I believe, that someday I will look back at this tough time in my life and see Your faithfulness throughout it all.
And so, even through my tears I will remember my God is near. And I will call upon my downcast soul to continue to put my hope in You.
I love You, Lord. And I am so grateful that I don’t have to face this dark night of the soul on my own.
Because the One who makes all things new is right by my side. Every single day of my life.
“Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? . . . Other Ways We Can Help
Well wishes and get well messages aren’t always enough. A true friend knows she can do more.
- She can buy extra groceries at the store. And bring them to her friend.
- She can bring over her kids to play with her kids outside while mom gets a much-needed nap.
- She can offer to clean the house, pick up the kids from school, or taxi kids to lessons and practices.
All these simple little things can go a long way in showing love, care, and concern for the other person.
But even if we don’t have a lot of time and energy, there are some pretty simple ways to reach out and show our concern and care without depleting ourselves.
We can show them lots of love by:
- Giving them a call and reminding them of God’s love and care for them.
- Sending a get well card with a heartfelt message, inspiring Bible verses, and warm wishes for a quick recovery.
- Sending encouraging text messages or emailing a get well soon message.
- And offering up daily prayers for God’s mercy, healing touch, and that the special grace of God would be on their life during this difficult time.
These are all other ways we can help and encourage someone on their journey to getting well soon.
But the best thing we can do is keep pointing them to Jesus.
He is the only one who can bring real comfort and healing in this life . . . and for all of eternity.
“Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.”-1 Chronicles 16:11 NIV
